FITCRUNCH and Robert Irvine Foundation Present Powered Wheelchair to US Army Veteran

2nd Annual Crunch for a Vet Challenge: Helping Veterans one crunch at a time!

Westbury, NY, November 4, 2021– Chef Robert Irvine’s FITCRUNCH® along with the Robert Irvine Foundation celebrated their 2nd Annual Crunch for a Vet ceremony where they presented a custom pink camo Freedom Mobility 6×6 all-terrain power wheelchair to Long Island veteran, Erin Holmes. This power wheelchair will allow U.S. Army Specialist, Erin Holmes, to have more mobility and independence as well as keep up with her growing family. Erin comes from a military family and is now a mom to a 3-year-old daughter and has a son on the way. She served in Iraq from 2003 – 2014 as an Army truck driver for 11 years, leaving her body with major wear and tear. Erin had TBI, PTSD, and experienced a severe injury. Erin said that this power wheelchair is going to change her entire life.

The Crunch for a Vet Challenge made this all possible with the help of FITCRUNCH® through the sweat of friends and fans of Robert Irvine. The social media challenge really caught fire and raised $15,000 for the Robert Irvine Foundation. People were asked to post a video online performing abdominal crunches. For every crunch performed, FITCRUNCH® donated $1 to the Robert Irvine Foundation. This year, the $15,000 raised went towards the power wheelchair that was presented to veteran, Erin Holmes.

“There’s a satisfaction to being able to help others and when I met Robert Irvine, he explained the foundation to us and what he did there…there’s an excitement and I think that it’s important for all of us to learn how to give back and give to our communities. There’s a lot of struggling people out there and we don’t realize our freedoms that we have and our freedoms are there because of our service people, our first responders.” – Patrick Cornacchiulo, FITCRUNCH CEO/President

“There’s no better feeling than having a day when we’re able to help someone like Erin Holmes,” Irvine said. “She bravely served her country and that service took a toll on her body. There’s such a steep cost to the freedoms we enjoy, and every service member pays that cost. When someone like Erin pays a little more, it’s incumbent on America’s citizens to recognize that cost, say thank you, and give back. I’m proud that we could do that in some small way.”  – Chef Robert Irvine
